I remember being a kid and being able to bust out into the Russian splits on command. Now I’m lucky if I can sit cross-legged for more than 10 minutes at a time! lol I have definitely lost flexibility in my hips over the years and find that they are tighter than ever.
The main culprit, in my situation, is sitting at a desk for longer periods and sprinting. If I don’t stick to a daily routine of stretching it’s crazy how quickly they will seize up and limit my mobility. These stretches for tight hips make a world of difference for me. Taking the time to stretch at the end of the day or after an intense sprinting session is key to staying loose. I’m still pretty far from performing the splits but hey, I’m not ruling it out yet 😉
