The Perfect Pair for Running and Training

The Perfect Kicks

Proper footwear is important when you are active and not all shoes are designed for the same type of sport. I like to have a designated shoe for both running and training. When it comes to running the new Nike Free Flyknit 4.0 are on the top of my list. Style, comfort and functionality plus they are incredibly lightweight. Weight training requires a bit more support so I go after Reeboks new Crossfit Nano 4.0. with increased stability and shock absorption these kicks are perfect for heavy lifting, plyometrics and agility training – plus I’m in love with this colour combo!

Upgrade the At-Home Workout with Ugi

Ugi Fit Ball

One of my all time favourite pieces of workout equipment for at home. I purchased my Ugi ball three years ago and it still looks brand new even after all the brutal workouts I have put it through! I have the 12 lb ball but they come in 6, 8 and 10 lb sizes as well. The ball adds resistance, stability and variety to your workouts and is only 15″ around so it doesn’t take up too much space in your living room.

The Essential HIIT Tool from GymBoss

GymBoss Timer

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and tabata style training are one of my favourite ways to drop pounds and lean out fast! Incorporating this type of training into all of my programs and personal workouts has lead to some pretty amazing results. Don’t miss a beat on your timed circuits with the GymBoss Interval Timer. This lightweight timer is easy to set up, use and adjusts to work with your custom interval settings. The one pictured is my actual timer that I bought over three years ago so that’s proof that they last. There are newer versions out now with a variety of colours to pick from – I think I may be due for an upgrade….

Roll Out Sore Muscles Anywhere

Trigger Foam Roller

After an intense workout, or long run, show your body some tough love with a foam roller. These Grid Mini Rollers by TriggerPoint are perfect for rolling out tired muscles and aid in recovery. I love this mini version as it is super compact so I can throw it in my gym back or in my suitcase when I’m on the go. It’s small size also makes it easier to target hard to reach muscles in the hip flexors and behind the shoulder blades.

Track Progress In Style

Polar Watch

There are so many fitness trackers, heart rate monitors etc. out there so it can be hard to pick which on is best for you. I used to have the Fitbit Flex but wanted something that was actually tracking my heart rate, calories burned and would indicate wether I was in a cardio or fat burning zone. I went with the Polar FT7 because it had the simple features I wanted but mainly because it was a good size and fair price. The newest polar watch (V800) looks really fancy and has some great features for the serious athlete but when I tried one on it was way too big and not comfortable to wear. I’m hoping they will come out with a smaller, more female friendly, version soon.

Barefoot Made Better

Nike Studio Wrap

I first saw these on Instagram and knew I needed to find a pair! These Nike Studio Wrap training shoes are perfect for barre classes, dance class, Pilates and yoga. I especially love mine for hot yoga because no matter what mat I use I’m always sliding all over the place so the added grip is a huge help – especially in tree pose! They are easy to slip on, lightweight and breathable. They also come with a handy wash bag to help them last.

Relieve Post Workout Tension

Lush Massage Bar

What better gift than relaxation and comfort. Ease tense or achey muscles and enjoy a relaxing massage using this Wiccy Magic Muscles bar from LUSH cosmetics. I was first drawn to this bar because it actually smells just like Christmas! The peppermint and cinnamon oils make the skin feel warm and tingly. The best part is that it doesn’t leave the skin too oily or greasy but offers just the perfect amount of moisture.

The Kitchen Tool That Does It All

My final gift recommendation is for those on your list who have been extra nice this year! I went back and forth with the idea of purchasing my Vitamix for months. It is a big chunk of money up front and after all it is just an appliance. Or so I thought…. After taking the plunge I realized how much time, money and effort I was saving when it comes to healthy eating. I’m able to make soups, sauces, dips, smoothies, sorbet, batters, dough and so much more. Clean up takes minutes and I have yet to try a recipe from the included cookbook that I didn’t love.

I hope this gave you a few ideas for those on your list. Let me know if you have any great ideas that I missed. Happy shopping!!
